Gates That Belong to the House

A gate is often the first piece of a building that someone touches. It needs to provide security while still feeling connected to the architecture beyond it.

Gates That Belong to the House

Respond to the building

The spacing of slats, scale of frames and choice of finish can echo lines already present in the facade, landscape or boundary walls. This makes the entrance feel designed with the property rather than added later.

Balance privacy and openness

A completely solid gate offers privacy but can feel imposing. Controlled gaps, layered screens or combinations of timber and steel can provide security while allowing light, air and partial views.

Resolve practical details early

Automation, pedestrian access, drainage, slopes and intercom positions all affect the final design. Bringing them into the conversation early avoids awkward additions after fabrication.
